Message from the Executive Director - May 2012

Joachim Holtz - AABA Executive DirectorOur 2012 Marketing Program is off to a good start…….

Our program this year is our most comprehensive yet. We want 118th Avenue to be a “vibrant commercial strip” and experts are clear that it needs to be supported by more than the local community. The focus of this marketing campaign is to draw Edmontonians at large to come and experience all the Avenue has to offer. Local residents are already becoming increasingly aware of this, even though the perception of the area has greatly changed, it still suffers to some degree from its old reputation. The campaign features a broad range of advertising capitalizing on the great events that take place in the area.

EPS - Community Action Team

In our community…
Edmonton Police Service Community Action Team, March 21-24epscat.

The Community Action Team (CAT) is part of the Edmonton Police Service's Violence Reduction Strategy, bringing an increase of EPS members to communities for a four-day period, targeting violence and disorder.

During this time social agencies, with EPS assistance, reach out to our most vulnerable citizens and assist with services like housing and addiction issues.

The following sessions will be covered:
Community Involvement
March 21, 7-9 p.m.  Alberta Avenue Community League

Landlords/Tenants/Bylaw and Property Related Issues
March 22, 7-9 p.m St. Alphonsus School

What police are doing in your neighborhood

March 23, 7-9 p.m.  Montrose Community Hall

Visit the Alberta Avenue EPS Team at their command post, at 118 Avenue and 82 Street (Safeway parking lot) for hot dogs, hot chocolate and coffee from 6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. daily, March 21 – 24.
