A visual tour of Alberta Avenue through the years. 

118 Avenue is rich in history and is one of the oldest streets in Edmonton. Historically, it was a route between the City of Edmonton in the west and the Town of Beverly in the east. The Alberta Avenue name applies to the portion from 109 Street to Wayne Gretzky Drive. 

Alberta Avenue has been going through a revitalization process since 2006, starting in 2008 with the City of Edmonton’s Streetscape Project of the Avenue.

In addition, many new building facades are evident as any commercial property owners applied under the City’s Facade Improvement Matching Grant Program

The Alberta Avenue Business Association represents over 250 businesses with a wide array of stores and services along 118th Avenue.

Alberta Avenue businesses are a mosaic of people who take pride in their family-owned cafes, service shops, food markets, restaurants, and retail shops.
