we believe in 118

We Believe in 118 is a community coalition consisting of the Alberta Avenue Business Association, eight 118 Avenue business owners, Arts on the Ave, The Edmonton EXPO Centre, the Avenue Revitalization Initiative, the Neighbourhood Empowerment Team and the Edmonton Police Service – all committed to working together towards a safer community.

MANDATE

Our mandate is to make Alberta Ave. and the surrounding communities a better place to live, play and do business. We aim to increase business communication and connectedness as well as increase collaboration between the business community and community partners. Businesses are often overlooked and untapped in terms of community resources. We Believe in 118 speaks to the power of community and the missed opportunity of working more collaboratively with community businesses. We Believe in 118 takes a grassroots, multi‐disciplined approach to community concerns of crime and disorder.

VISION

The coalition has been working to reclaim Alberta Ave as a drug paraphernalia and weapons‐free zone. Our campaign aims to let the public know that the communities surrounding Alberta Ave are great places to live, work and play ‐ that amazing people live here and care about their surroundings
