Connecting with Business Members and learning from them what programs and services they would like AABA to take on. Connecting with community and neibours to learn more about about what they love about our shopping district and how we can make our avenue even better.
What is your favourite part of the Alberta Avenue District?
Getting to know all the amazing work the businesses along the avenue do on a daily basis to keep the light on and make the district a great place to work, shop and live
What is your favourite thing to eat on the Avenue?
I love trying out the amazing fusion food on the avenue. The mix of flavours in these dishes really shows off Canada's diversity and multiculturalism. It's one of my favourite experiences!
Where is your favourite place to shop on the Avenue?
I really enjoy shopping across the entire district, however, you can often find me at Paraiso Tropical Latin Market

What does your day-to-day look like working at AABA?
My days at the Alberta Avenue Business Association (AABA) are a dynamic mix of supporting the organisation's initiatives and interacting with the diverse businesses on the Avenue.
What is your favourite part of the Alberta Avenue District?
My favourite part of the Alberta Avenue District is its unique character. It's a vibrant mix of established businesses, trendy new shops, and hidden gems. There's always something new to discover, from exploring eclectic art galleries to catching live music at a local pub. The avenue truly captures the spirit of Edmonton's diverse community.
What is your favourite thing to eat on the Avenue?
When it comes to food, the avenue is a smorgasbord of culinary delights. Choosing a favourite is tough, but I can't resist the aroma of freshly baked bread from a local bakery or the mouth watering flavours of international cuisine at a hidden gem restaurant. There's truly something for everyone's taste buds!
Where is your favourite place to shop on the Avenue?
I can't decide for one but I love places with art inside. The avenue boasts a fantastic selection of independent shops. I love browsing through stores that offer unique, locally-made crafts or discovering vintage treasures. It's a great way to support local businesses and find one-of-a-kind items.

What does your day-to-day look like working at AABA?
My day on the Avenue, is busy. I'm outside cleaning the Avenue and keeping my eyes out for damages to the businesses and graffiti… I walk to Nait from 78th street everyday.
What is your favourite part of the Alberta Avenue District?
My favourite part of the Avenue is by the community league. It’s a 2 block radius. It looks beautiful and I feel safe and comfortable.
What is your favourite thing to eat on the Avenue?
My favourite thing to eat is a steak from Coliseum Steak & Pizza!
Where is your favourite place to shop on the Avenue?
My favourite place to shop is the Bissell thrift shop… you can find anything in there.

What does your day-to-day look like working at AABA?
My typical day at AABA usually starts with grabbing a cup of tea or coffee from one of the many cafes along the Ave. I spend a lot of time visiting businesses and discussing their goals and visions for the community's future. It's exciting to brainstorm with business owners about how their establishments can contribute to the prosperity of Alberta Avenue.
What is your favourite part of the Alberta Avenue District?
My favourite part of the Avenue is definitely Little Mogadishu, located at the vibrant intersection of 95 St and Alberta Ave. The sense of community there is incredible, and it feels like a piece of my homeland here in Canada. The area is bustling with shops and restaurants, and the energy is always nostalgic and lively.
What is your favourite thing to eat on the Avenue?
There are so many delicious options on Alberta Ave that it's hard to choose just one! I particularly love the sambusas at Africano Cafe and the green onion cakes from the Green Onion Cake Man.
Where is your favourite place to shop on the Avenue?
My favourite place to shop is BeChic boutique, where I can always find unique fashion pieces for any occasion. I also enjoy visiting United Halal to explore the variety of spices and foods imported from Somalia. With so many diverse options available, there's always something new to discover on the Avenue.

What does your day-to-day look like working at AABA?
BLP creates content and manages AABA’s social media and website. We also produce two newsletters each month, one that is for promotion of businesses, events and initiatives and the other that goes out to members with business information and opportunities. We also provide media support and coordinate marketing campaigns for AABA’s initiatives and programs.
BLP has worked with AABA since 2017, and has production managed the popular Eats on 118 tours since 2021, and the 2023 Alberta Avenue Night Markets.
What is your favourite part of the Alberta Avenue District?
The Alberta Avenue community has always been very inspiring. The business owners, community members and other organizations in the district are some of the most passionate and dedicated people we work with!
What is your favourite thing to eat on the Avenue?
So many places! Swagat has amazing Indian food. The Carrot Community Arts Coffeehouse for a great cup of coffee. Battista’s Calzone. Coliseum Steak & Pizza’s Greek Salad. A Portuguese egg tart is always a must!
